A powerful thunderstorm tore through Toronto on Wednesday night, bringing torrential rain, large hail and a tornado threat to much of southern Ontario.

Across the Greater Toronto Area, roads were flooded and closed, transit was disrupted and tens of thousands of residents were left without power.
