Chinese officials said the death toll from a mudslide in Gyirong Port in Xizang has risen to 43, with 519 people still missing. During a briefing attended by domestic and foreign journalists, authorities said more than 2,500 people had been deployed for search and rescue operations and that over 9,000 pieces of equipment had been used since the mudslide swept through the border area with Nepal. Officials pledged to continue searching the site while strengthening early warning efforts.
