More than 30 crested ibises have been seen gathering near the Qinling Mountains in northwest China's Xi'an. Some are young birds born this year, a sign that ibises released years ago are now breeding successfully in the wild. With Xi'an's environment improving, the endangered birds are expanding their range and forming a self-sustaining local population.
