Public security technology expo opens in east China

The third Public Security Technology and Equipment Expo opened in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province, on September 8, bringing together more than 100 companies showcasing policing technology, equipment and security solutions.

Hosted by the First Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, the five-day expo covers more than 13,000 square meters at the Jiangsu Haizhou Bayview Conference Center. Its theme is "Technology Empowerment, Win-Win Cooperation."

Exhibits range from police vehicles and other equipment to overseas security solutions and export services. Six specialized zones use simulated scenarios to show how technology can support different types of police work.

Among the exhibits are 12 police dogs from Chinese breeds. Trained for different environments, they can work in confined spaces and cold, high-altitude conditions. Their duties include detecting explosives, conducting search-and-rescue operations, and tracking suspects or missing people.

Domestically bred police dogs are used across China in criminal investigations and other public safety operations.

The expo also features live demonstrations, product launches and procurement talks. These activities connect Chinese companies and research institutions with foreign government agencies, international organizations and experts. They also help Chinese suppliers better understand international demand and explore overseas markets.

First held in 2024, the expo has become a platform for displaying public security technology and promoting cooperation between Chinese companies and international partners.

Yu Bing, deputy director of the First Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, said this year's event has more exhibitors and a stronger focus on technology than the previous two editions.

"This expo aims to deepen technical exchanges and international cooperation in public security technology, showcase advances in Chinese equipment and support international law enforcement cooperation," Yu said.

He added that the event seeks to advance the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative while applying technological innovation to strengthen public security governance worldwide.
