On the edge of the Taklimakan Desert in Hotan County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, crayfish and prawns raised in saline-alkali ponds are being harvested. By desalinating water, adjusting pH and integrating recirculating tanks with greenhouses and outdoor ponds, the base has achieved off-season sales and large-scale production. This desert aquaculture project has attracted many buyers, and the farming area has now expanded to about 253 hectares, boosting local incomes and creating new opportunities for farmers.
