US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Tuesday adding a 50% additional ad valorem tariff on certain Canadian products while eliminating the existing 50% tariff on others to "offset the burden or disadvantage on US commerce and better serve the public interest." The new tariffs will take effect on September 15.

According to the proclamation, a range of Canadian products from mattresses to motorboats and golf carts will be subject to the surcharge.
