Honduran President Nasry Asfura received the credentials of Peru's new ambassador to Honduras César Max Larraín Tafur on Monday, reaffirming the diplomatic ties between the two countries, according to the Honduran presidency.
The arrival of the Peruvian diplomat comes after both nations agreed this March to fully restore ambassadorial ties. This ends a more than three-year period of downgraded relations since January 2023, when Peru withdrew its ambassador and reduced relations to the chargé d'affaires level after then-Honduran President Xiomara Castro criticized the Peruvian government.
