Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge, the world's longest-span bridge currently under construction, has completed its first key guide rope crossing in east China's Jiangsu Province. Workers used a 21-millimeter high-strength Dyneema rope towed by vessels to span the 2,300-meter main channel directly. This efficient method avoids repeated rope replacement and cuts construction risks. The rope was lifted 62 meters above the water to guarantee safe river navigation, marking the official start of the bridge's upper structure construction. Upon completion, the bridge will link the three cities of Zhangjiagang in Suzhou, Jingjiang in Taizhou and Rugao in Nantong.
