Since its launch in 2015, the New Development Bank (NDB) has backed more than 120 projects with over $40 billion in financing, supporting development across BRICS countries. Alessandro Teixeira, former special economic adviser to the Brazilian president, serves as a senior adviser to the president of the New Development Bank.

He says the NDB is helping close infrastructure financing gaps while supporting the energy transition, climate action and digital development. By bringing together the diverse development experience of BRICS countries, he says, the bank is creating new opportunities for countries to learn from one another and chart new paths for their growth.
