It's reported that Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te claimed at an event recently that China is distorting United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758. He said the resolution only concerns the People's Republic of China's representation at the UN and has nothing to do with Taiwan, which he described as a "sovereign independent nation." Responding to his remarks, the presidents of China's Taiwan region's Labor Party and New Party said there is only one China in the world and that national reunification is the trend.
