Giant panda Qing Bao celebrated her fifth birthday at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, DC, on September 12, with a fruit ice cake, sweet potatoes and a 1970s-themed party. Keepers gave her a cake made with pineapple, beet and apple juices, topped with blueberries, strawberries and peaches. Visitors watched as Qing Bao enjoyed her birthday treats and the retro-themed decorations. Born in China on September 12, 2021, Qing Bao arrived in the US with male panda Bao Li in October 2024. The pair made their public debut at the zoo in January 2025.
