China's computing power platform has achieved nationwide integrated coordination and monitoring of computing power, according to the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Sunday, marking the basic formation of a framework featuring "one network, coordinated planning and unified development" for the country's computing power resources.
Computing infrastructure has become a critical foundation for driving the development of artificial intelligence. The MIIT has proposed accelerating the development of a nationwide integrated computing network, and deepening automated monitoring of computing power as well as the matching of computing power supply and demand.
The computing power platform, a national-level comprehensive computing service platform, has now brought together more than 10,000 registered enterprise users. It offers more than 2,000 high-quality computing power products and connects over 300 various large-scale models, providing computing power access services for developers. It has accumulated tens of billions of records of computing power monitoring data.
The platform has promoted the connection of 31 provinces, regions and cities across China to the network, said He Baohong, chief engineer at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
It has established a unified, standardized and coordinated monitoring system that provides a nationwide overview of the computing capacity, and enables the awareness of operational conditions and the monitoring of operations, said He.
China is also working to improve the efficiency of computing resource utilization. It is promoting the orderly development of computing facilities and accelerating the establishment of a multi-level, tiered computing architecture, said Zhong Zhihong, chief engineer at the MIIT.
Zhong mentioned that by June, China's intelligent computing capacity had reached 2,185 EFLOPS, representing a year-on-year increase of 177%.
More than 70 computing-power interconnection routes have been established to connect computing hubs and key regional computing transmission channels, said Zhong, while 17 national regional nodes for computing interconnection have been approved, marking significantly strengthened capabilities for coordination between computing networks and computing resources.
