China hopes that the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union will build on its traditional goodwill toward China, fulfill its responsibility and create conditions for bringing the bilateral relations back on the right track, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a daily press briefing after China's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Liu Bin met on Monday with a visiting delegation of young members from the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union.

China stressed that the erroneous remarks on China's Taiwan region made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi are the crux of the difficulties in China-Japan relations, Guo said, adding that Japan should honor the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, learn lessons from history and earn trust from its Asian neighbors and the international community with concrete actions.
