A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday urged the United States to stop expanding its military buildup and preparing for war in outer space, and safeguard global strategic stability through concrete actions.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular media briefing in response to a question on the US Space Force claiming to possess in-orbit space weapons.

Guo said China has consistently upheld the peaceful use of outer space and the maintenance of space security, and opposes the weaponization of outer space, turning it into a battlefield, and an arms race in space.
