Stranded residents struggled across a flooded road in Tongshi Town, Wuzhishan, south China's Hainan Province. Firefighters used ropes to help them cross the five meters to safety amid record rainfall.

Wuzhishan's urban area recorded 616.2 mm of rain in the 24 hours to 11 a.m. on September 14, its highest 24-hour total since records began in 1958.
