A giant "inflatable pillow" is now in use at the Baiyun Exhibition Center project in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.

Fans keep the foundation pit air-supported membrane inflated, creating an enclosed construction space above the pit.

It covers about 25,000 square meters and can cut construction noise by up to 60%. Designed to withstand typhoon-force winds up to Force 14, it is expected to save 171 days of construction time.
