Pinglu Canal in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region officially opens to navigation on September 16.
China's first major river-to-sea canal project planned and coordinated at the national level since 1949, the 134.2-kilometer canal links the Xijiang River shipping route with the Beibu Gulf. It is expected to shorten the shipping distance between China's southwestern hinterland and ASEAN by 560 kilometers and reduce logistics costs by 18-30%.
Join CGTN as we witness the canal's opening and explore its smart operations, waterway services and tourism offerings.
