At the Madao hub of the Pinglu Canal in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an ecological corridor bridge has been built. Its deck is covered with soil and stones similar to those of the surrounding mountains and planted with the same vegetation, designed to conceal traces of human activity as much as possible and provide a passage for animals in the forests on both sides, including spotted linsangs, Asian leopard cats and red-bellied tree squirrels.

The Pinglu Canal officially opened to navigation on September 16.
