A Seoul court on Wednesday ordered the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to pay 44.6 billion won ($32.5 million) in damages over its 2020 demolition of an inter-Korean liaison office, marking the first judgment in a lawsuit brought by the government of Republic of Korea (ROK) against the DPRK, Yonhap News Agency reported.
ROK's previous conservative government, led by former President Yoon Suk-yeol, filed the suit in June 2023, before Yoon was ousted from office after his short-lived December 2024 martial law declaration.
