At this year's forum, the composition of the US delegation has attracted considerable attention. In late May, both militaries held a working group meeting of the Military Maritime Consultative Agreement in Hawaii. In late August and early September, the commander of the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command and the chief of the US military's Pacific Command had their first face-to-face talks.
