The China-ASEAN Data Cooperation Committee of the World Data Organization was established Thursday in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the National Data Administration said.

The committee will focus on ASEAN and work in areas including cross-border data flows, inclusive access to intelligent computing power, joint development of rules and standards, membership ecosystem development and industry clusters.

It aims to narrow the data divide and unlock the value of data for the digital economy.

The World Data Organization is the world's first international body dedicated to promoting data development and governance. Its headquarters are in Beijing.

The National Data Administration said it will take part in global data governance and support the organization in drawing on the expertise of its members across regions and industries.

It will also promote practical international cooperation in specialized data fields.
