At 9:18 a.m. on September 18, air-raid sirens sounded for three minutes across Shenyang to mark the 95th anniversary of the September 18 Incident. Vehicles stopped and sounded their horns, while pedestrians stood in silence. The September 18 Incident, also known as the Mukden Incident, was used by Japanese forces as a pretext to invade northeast China.
