How Gen Z sees the world: Young American discovers the real China

Global Stringer

Kyle Sykes, a young American, came to China hoping to understand the country beyond what he had seen in the media and read online. After living and studying in the country, he was impressed by the convenience of everyday life, rapid technological and infrastructure development, and the warmth of the Chinese people.

From hiking the Great Wall and exploring the Forbidden City to experiencing the vibrant cities of Shenzhen and Shanghai, Kyle says these firsthand experiences gave him a deeper understanding of China's history, culture and modern development. He also experienced the warmth of Chinese friends at a burger festival in Beijing, where food and laughter brought young people from different cultures closer together.

Having personally benefited from China-US educational exchange, Kyle hopes young people from both countries can continue to strengthen communication, mutual understanding and friendship, and contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous future.
