Stronger cooperation between China and Europe is important for the future of global health governance, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, primary health care and healthy aging, said Hans Kluge, Belgium's nominee for director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) and WHO regional director for Europe on special leave.

Promoting healthy aging also requires a shift toward prevention, with health interventions starting early in life, Kluge said in an exclusive interview with CGTN's Health Talk on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between the health and education sectors and of maintaining healthy lifestyles, particularly through regular physical activity.

The Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum 2026 was held in Haikou from September 15 to 16. Guests from 32 countries and regions attended the event.
