On September 21, 2026, the final blast marked the breakthrough of the 7,042-meter Leye Tunnel, under construction since July 2024.

It is the first long tunnel on the under-construction Huang-Bai Railway to be holed through.

Linking Huangtong in Guizhou Province with Baise in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the 315-kilometer railway will serve as southwest China's shortest and fastest freight corridor to the sea.
