Annual harvest festival marked across China
Various kinds of activities were held across the country to mark the 9th Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, which falls on September 23 this year. It is not merely a celebration of the harvest but also an inheritance of China's 5,000-year-old agricultural civilization.
In Guangxi's Peixiu Miao Village, for example, locals and tourists celebrated the festival by taking part in a relay race involving carrying rice stalks and catching rice-field ducks, as well as enjoying folk performances. In Jiangsu's Yizheng, the celebrations attracted large crowds to an exhibition and agricultural produce fair, where visitors took part in fun competitions. A harvest-themed activity was also held at a kindergarten in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, where pupils experienced rural culture first-hand and found happiness through labor.
