In Pishan County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, nearly 2,000 hectares of pomegranates are at peak harvest. Farmers are picking, sorting and packing the bright red fruit, known for its sweet taste thanks to abundant sunshine, large day-night temperature variations, snowmelt water and sandy soil. With sales both online and offline, this year's harvest is expected to reach 18,000 tonnes, with a value of over 100 million yuan (about $14 million).
