As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, a robot "apprentice" at a traditional pastry shop in Beijing has learned to make mooncakes.

Brushing egg wash onto mooncakes may look simple, but it actually tests the dexterity of the robot's hands. The "apprentice" can accurately replicate the motion trajectory and force applied by a human master during a demonstration, while simultaneously collecting sample data, converting tactile experience into digital samples. It can now complete multiple processes, including pouring ingredients, mixing and demolding.
