Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the United States at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, UC Davis Professor Christina Cogdell says she hopes the two countries can choose cooperation over trade wars. Speaking to CGTN reporter Feng Yilei, she argues that the US can learn from China's progress in clean technology.

Cogdell has visited China and was among the interviewees connected to the recent exchange activities involving nearly 100 students from 10 US universities. The students wrote to Chinese President Xi Jinping after participating in the Future Makers 2026 China-US Youth Tour for a Shared Asia-Pacific Future and other exchange events in China. Xi replied on the eve of his state visit, welcoming their appreciation for Chinese civilization, their hope for friendly cooperation between China and the United States, and their willingness to act as envoys of friendship bridging the Pacific Ocean. #ChinaUSConnects
