China has urged relevant agencies in New Zealand to stop spreading false information and creating tensions, and take steps to promote mutual understanding and trust between China and New Zealand, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

At a regular press briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks in response to a question about a claim by New Zealand's National Cyber Security Centre that China posed a cybersecurity threat.

Guo said China has always opposed and resolutely cracked down on hacker attacks in accordance with the law, while opposing the dissemination of false information about cybersecurity for political purposes.
