Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday for a state visit to the United States.

A CGTN Stringer asked people on the street what they made of the meeting between the Chinese and US presidents. Most said talking face to face helps, it cuts through misunderstandings, and it gives the relationship forward motion. They'd also like to see the two countries work together more – on trade, on AI.

Alexander Adams hopes they find a balance, compete less, and build a stronger partnership by talking to each other.
