"Why do American media only focus on the negative?" That's what American teacher Ronald Sakolsky kept asking during his interview with CGTN's Tian Wei. Sakolsky could hardly believe that his story was highlighted by the Chinese president during the White House state dinner. What struck him even more: Xi's invitation for 100,000 young Americans to study in China barely made headlines in the US. To him, it was one of the few genuinely hopeful signals in US-China ties – just one that doesn't trend like conflict does. A name called out from a podium won't make headlines. But it's a reminder: What China and the US need most isn't more noise – it's better stories, told well.
