During China's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, Tongren in Guizhou is hosting the 2026 Mount Fanjing Intangible Cultural Heritage Drama Season. Visitors can explore Mount Fanjing – a World Natural Heritage Site – by day and enjoy operas in the ancient town after dark. Blending intangible cultural heritage performances, old-town interactive activities and tourism consumption, the event is boosting Tongren's holiday tourism sector.
Running from September 23 to October 7, the drama season features performances at Zhongnanmen Ancient Town and Tongren Museum. Acclaimed opera artists and local heritage inheritors are taking the stage together. Audiences wander through historic buildings as shows unfold around them, immersed in traditional opera set against architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
