The Yuexi, the world's largest double-shield tunnel boring machine, has rolled off the production line in Chengdu.

It weighs 3,500 tonnes – about as heavy as 800 elephants, and has a cutter head 13 meters wide.

With 83 steel cutters, it can chew through hard rock up to five times faster than traditional methods.
