China's Liuwudian suspension bridge was completed on September 24, marking two engineering firsts in China. It is the first five-span continuous suspension bridge with three suspended spans and a composite pylon cable plane. It is also Fujian Province's longest-span bridge and its first fully offshore sea suspension bridge. The bridge, a key section of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge, stretches 1,948 meters, with a 928-meter main span. Its steel deck weighs 53,000 tonnes and sits about 70 meters above the sea.
