Inspired by Shenzhen's "Measuring Tape Guy" – a man who went viral for spotting problems around the city – Yueyang County authorities in central China's Hunan Province launched a pilot WeChat tool called "Report It" this year.

Residents snap photos of city snags and upload them through the platform. Staff then work to sort out the issue within a set time, earning the team the nickname "Measuring Tape Department." By the end of September, the team had resolved 358 issues reported.
