CCPIT: China-US summit brings greater certainty to trade and business

CGTN

North America;

The recent meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump has provided greater stability and certainty for business cooperation between the two countries, China’s top trade promotion agency said Tuesday.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said the meeting and the important consensus reached by the two leaders have given fresh momentum to China-US business cooperation. Xi and Trump agreed to build a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability based on respect, fairness and reciprocity during Xi’s state visit last week.

At a press conference on Tuesday, CCPIT spokesperson Wang Wenshuai called the reciprocal visits by the two heads of state within six months “historic” and “a milestone” in bilateral relations. She said business communities in both countries generally believe the meeting has provided important direction for bilateral business cooperation and strengthened their confidence in deepening cooperation and pursuing mutually beneficial outcomes.

The assessment comes as China-US trade frictions remain elevated. The CCPIT said its Trade Friction Index for July showed the United States recorded the highest level of trade friction with China among the countries and regions monitored.

At the same time, US businesses have continued to show strong interest in engaging with China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

For the upcoming 2026 APEC CEO Summit in Shenzhen, US companies currently have the largest number of registrations among all APEC economies, according to the CCPIT. Major companies including Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Google, ExxonMobil and Microsoft have submitted applications to attend the November 17-18 summit, covering sectors ranging from semiconductors and artificial intelligence to energy, finance, manufacturing and consumer retail.

The CCPIT said the strong participation reflects the US business community’s interest in Asia-Pacific economic cooperation and the close links between Chinese and US industrial and supply chains.
