Standing by the threshing ground in Bangluo Town, Dingxi City, northwest China's Gansu Province, is an old walnut tree that has weathered over 120 years. In 1935, during the Long March, Chairman Mao Zedong stood beneath this very tree to deliver a historic mobilization speech to seated soldiers, charting the clear course toward northern Shaanxi. Today, the direction set by those pioneers has taken deep root. While the old branches hang heavy with green walnuts, a group of children in Red Army uniforms rehearses intently under its canopy. The arduous trials of the Long March have transformed into a gentle, protective shade, nurturing generation after generation as they grow up with confidence and poise.
