China supports resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means and hopes that Iran and the United States will stick to the choice of peace, return to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and resume dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press conference in response to a question regarding the matter.

China has been actively committed to ending the fighting and promoting peace since the onset of the conflict, Guo said, adding that China stands ready to uphold its initiatives and propositions on peace and stability in the Middle East, and continue to make efforts for the early restoration of peace and tranquility in the Gulf region.
