Russia has placed German retailer Metro AG's Russian assets under temporary administration and transferred them to Russian company UK Torg RUS, according to a presidential decree published on Monday. The decree did not state a reason for the move.

Metro said it no longer had operational control over its Russian subsidiary, while the local unit said operations continued as usual.
