Ninety-one years ago, the Central Red Army crossed Liupan Mountain in northwest China – the last major mountain barrier – on its way to northern Shaanxi, where the Communist Party of China established its revolutionary base in Yan'an after the Long March.

Today, people of all ages walk the 2.5-kilometer Red Army Trail, where sculptures and immersive scenes bring key moments of the Long March back to life.

It's a short trail, but the climb is already a challenge. For visitors, it offers a glimpse into the hardships the Red Army endured and a chance to experience the spirit of the Long March.

The mountains were crossed. But the spirit lives on.
