Local officials denied that a shooting occurred at a high school in Sultan Kudarat Province, Mindanao, southern Philippines, on Wednesday morning, saying the loud noise was likely caused by faulty electrical wiring.

According to Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, governor of the province, the loud sound reported at Isulan National High School was not caused by a firearm, and no ammunition was found in the area during the investigation. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Classes at all schools in Isulan Municipality were suspended from Wednesday afternoon.
