After China's Li Wenwen won gold and broke three Asian Games records in the women's +86kg weightlifting division on Tuesday, she spoke to CGTN Sports Scene's Shen Xiang about the victory, completing her medal collection and her goals for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
Li revealed she was initially unaware that she had broken the Asian Games snatch, clean and jerk and total records. The triumph gave the reigning Olympic champion at least one medal in every major competition, after she missed the previous edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou due to an elbow injury.
The 26-year-old, who has matured from the youngest to one of the most experienced members of the national team, said she now handles difficult situations more calmly.
Li added that she relied on a simple message through injuries and tough times: "keep going and take things step-by-step." The Chinese weightlifter concluded by noting that her immediate focus is building up points to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
