Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Israel, was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday after what the airline called an altercation on the flight deck. CNN, citing Israeli officials, reported that the co-pilot stabbed the captain and may have tried to crash the plane.

Flight-tracking data showed the plane dropping nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds before other flydubai pilots on board took control and landed it safely.

More than 170 passengers later reached Tel Aviv aboard a replacement aircraft. Flydubai suspended flights to and from Israel and said the cause and motive remained under investigation, warning against premature speculation.
