In 1930, eight people from Xingguo shared accounts of their land, harvests, debts and livelihoods for what became known as the Xingguo Survey. Ninety-six years later, CGTN meets their descendants: some still farm, others have left for work, become teachers or begun exploring how AI could improve agriculture. As livelihoods expand and healthcare support grows, how much does the land still determine a family's future? Through their stories, we revisit the relationship between people and the land.
