Animation is becoming more than just entertainment in China, as new technologies, original franchises and cross-industry collaboration reshape the sector. The 2026 Beijing Animation Festival, held in the leadup to China's National Day on October 1, brought together more than 70 animation IPs, alongside industry forums, outdoor screenings and interactive events across the Beijing.
