Ninety years after the victory of the Long March, authorities are working to preserve sites along its route to honor the memory of those who fought and fell along the way.

In south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Xiangjiang River was the site of one of the most devastating battles.

Today, memorial sites there keep that history alive, as well as developing new industries and livelihoods for nearby communities.
