Why the Zunyi Conference changed the Long March

CGTN

Asia;China

How did a modest meeting room change the course of the Long March? In January 1935, the Red Army faced a critical juncture in Zunyi, southwest China's Guizhou Province. The Zunyi Conference turned the campaign around – a case of self-correction and conviction at the moment it was needed most.

Decades later, veteran American journalist Harrison Salisbury traveled to China to uncover the story firsthand. He called it the ultimate watershed moment, in his book The Long March: The Untold Story.

More than 90 years on, people from around the world still come to see where it happened. Watch the video for the story behind Zunyi!
