In London, Lola Lhamo, a British woman of Russian descent, draws on her East-West experiences in her yoga practice.
Her connection with traditional Chinese culture grew out of a long-standing search for healing and self-discovery. She was introduced to Daoist arts at an early age and later explored yoga, qigong and other Eastern practices.
Her journey to China opened a new chapter in her life.
At Five Immortals Temple in the Wudang Mountains, Lola studied Daoist medicine and Wudang swordsmanship. She was particularly drawn to the Chinese belief in harmony – between people and nature, and between body and mind. This also inspired her to see yoga in a new light.
Today, Lola is combining qigong, meditation and sound healing in her practice.
For her, learning from different traditions is a way to carry ancient wisdom into modern life.
