China finished the 2026 Asian Games with 169 gold medals after Saturday's competition, surpassing its previous record for most golds won at an edition of the games on foreign soil which was 165, set 20 years ago in Doha.
China won both the men's and women's golf team titles, with the men's victory delivering the delegation its 166th gold which broke the prior record for gold medals at a Games outside China.

China wrapped up the breaking competition with one gold and two bronze medals, as Guo Pu, known as B-Girl Royal, swept all three rounds of the women's final by unanimous decision.
Royal defeated Japan's veteran Ayumi Fukushima, known as B-Girl Ayumi, to claim the women's title, while defending champion Liu Qingyi, known as B-Girl 671, beat Japan's Ayane Nakarai, or B-Girl Ayane, in the bronze-medal battle.
With both Chinese women reaching the podium, China improved on its result from the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, when Liu won the women's gold and China also took bronze in the men's event.

China also won the group all-around title in rhythmic gymnastics, finishing ahead of host Japan and bronze medalist Kazakhstan.
Uzbekistan's Takhmina Ikromova successfully defended her individual all-around title, with China's Wang Qi and Wang Zilu taking silver and bronze, respectively.

In tennis, Coleman Wong became the first player from Hong Kong, China to win an Asian Games tennis gold medal, beating China's Wu Yibing 6-2, 6-4 in the men's singles final. The victory also secured Wong qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Wong broke Wu twice to take control of the opening set. The second remained level at 4-4 before Wong broke serve in the ninth game and served out the match.
Wu took his second Asian Games silver medal, having also finished runner-up at the Jakarta Games in 2018.
